Strategic Housing Land Availability Assessment (SHLAA)

The Strategic Housing Land Availability Assessment (SHLAA) is an important study that underpins the Core Strategy. The purpose of the Strategic Housing Land Availability Assessment (SHLAA) is to undertake a comprehensive review of housing land availability within the District, and to identify sufficient sites to provide a 5, 10 and 15 year supply of housing.

Click here to see a list of sites that have been submitted to the City Council for consideration under this process. The sites are arranged by area – Canterbury, Herne Bay, Whitstable and Rural. The rural sites have been arranged alphabetically by village.

An initial assessment of the sites has been carried out and some sites have been discounted on national policy and sustainability grounds. Further information on sites, together with a covering report, is available from the Council’s website www.canterbury.gov.uk/planningpolicy

Click on the SHLAA reference to display the site on the plan.
